SLAB for Serato Studio

AlphaTheta, in collaboration with Serato, has launched SLAB—the world's first MIDI hardware controller built specifically for Serato Studio. This compact pad controller brings tactile, hands-on control to Serato's popular beat-making DAW, unlocking new creative possibilities for DJs, producers, and beginners alike.

A standout feature: simply plug in SLAB, and it unlocks the full version of Serato Studio for free, making professional-grade production accessible to everyone.

Yoshinori Kataoka, President and CEO of AlphaTheta Corporation, said: “We’re so excited to announce the launch of SLAB. AlphaTheta and Serato have been working together closely since 2011, and this product embodies both companies’ deep passion for music.”

Young Ly, CEO of Serato, added: “We’re incredibly excited to dive into the world of hardware by working with AlphaTheta to co-develop SLAB, the first native controller for Serato Studio.”

Key Features

SLAB's intuitive layout includes a transport section with play/record/seek controls and a multifunctional dial featuring Focus Control for instant plugin manipulation—no MIDI mapping required.

An OLED display provides clear feedback, while four touch-sensitive encoders handle EQs, stems, effects, and more. The 16 multicolor LED performance pads support velocity and aftertouch, with modes like Pad FX for layering up to four effects.

A 130mm long-stroke touch strip offers expressive control over filters, pitch, FX levels, and swing. The dedicated Stems Level feature allows precise volume adjustment of vocals, melody, drums, and bass directly from hardware.

Beyond Serato Studio, SLAB supports Serato Sample, acts as an Official Serato Accessory for DJ Pro, and offers general MIDI mode for other DAWs.

Compact and portable (smaller than A4 paper), with a sleek two-tone gray design, USB-C powering, and included cables, SLAB turns any space into a creative studio.
